An anonymous P.I. poet is announcing the lantern festival news in rhyme.
Verses of the lantern festival poem are mysteriously being discovered at our door.
In the spring of this year
they will all reappear,
those lanterns so lovely and bright.
Everyone can join in
with their kith and their kin
At the evening of Earthly D-Light,
(When we gather to light up the night.)
There'll be John with his bagpipe
Antony with his gang
of musicians aplenty --
much BOOM and great BANG.
The famous Rick Scott
(whom we all love a lot)
will be playing an instrument new.
A great puppet show
by kids that you know
will be making its island debut.
You don't want to be square
so make sure you get there
on the evening of April two two.
(Let's all make a great WHOOPDEDOO!)
There'll be small ones and seniors
and some in-betweeners
and flashing youth bola
with Maia and Paula.
To the park you must hasten!
Wendy, Corrine, Carl, Jason
and Janet, they'll all be there too,
Josephine and Andrea,
they'll be there to see ya,
with plenty of neat things to do.
(Can you help us on April two two?)
Last year it was wild and zany
But it also was quite rainy.
This year's better - you know why?
We think it will be warm and dry.
So do what all the smart folk do
On Saturday, April two two:
Come along to Pirates Park
At dusk, just as it's getting dark.
You can join in lively singing
You can study bola-swinging
Just relax, you can't go wrong
With the P.I. Lantern throng
Froggie does a-courting go
To our sparkling shadow show
(Led by kids with help from Jo)
Lit by light of lantern glow.
It's a special opportunity
To enjoy our great community
Celebrate! Come! Be creative!
Don't stay home, all vegetative!
Bring a mug and get some cocoa
Made by firefolk - they're not loco,
They know how to have some fun
They put out fires - and they run!
Earthly D-Light lights are dandy
Check out the big ones made by Sandee.
Salish has one that's a jewel
He made it, and it's really cool!
Hear great singing from Andrea.
Antony and others play-a
Make a lantern straight from heaven!
If you get there right at seven
Work with Jasmine and Coreen
They really know the lantern scene
They've got know-how and ideas!
